This here do be a proposal for an advanced race. Currently a WIP, but I'd still like feedback.
Fluff: The Scions of Patria are the citizens of Patria Reborn, a new faction I'm going to try and start. They used to belong to a long dead empire, and up until recently, they all resided in the underworld. Recently, the God Emperor of Patria, was able to use his arcane / necromantic powers to funnel some of these citizens into the world, so that they could prepare a land suitable for his coming (not all the land, and not any time soon). Fluffwise, the Scions of Patria also have the ability to turn normal beings into Patrians via a process called "The Gift."
Appearance: Patrians, like aasimar and tieflings, can have any humanoid race as an origin. They look like their parent race, but with paler skin, red eyes, and no pulse.
Race: Scion of Patria
16 RP Type: Undead
4 RP Advanced Stats - +4 str, -2 dex, +2 int, +2 wis, +2 cha.
The necromantic energies of the Gift strengthen the mind, body, and spirit.
3 RP Spell like ability: Animate undead (as cleric spell) 1/day.
Patrians are infused with powerful necromantic energies.
-2 Light Blindness
Having spent eons in the underworld, the Patrians are ill prepared to face the light.
-1 Slow
Patrians are immortal undead aristocrats. They're never in a hurry.
20 RP
Alternate:
There are two type of patrians, builders and artisans. (or warrior/ scout, depending on pov). The artisan version has +4 dex and -2 str instead of +4 str and -2 dex.
Patrians originating from small races are small.
Questions / issues.
Is animate dead OK to take? If so, is it alright that it uses the divine version, not the arcane?
One interpretation of the rules suggests that I could put the -2 into con, but would have to buy a 10 con with the point buy. (Look at rules for creatures with 0 con in the race builder) Is this a correct interpretation, and, even if it is, is it too cheesy?
Are characters, especially those with some sort of light sensitivity, allowed to hunt / travel at night?
Do people consider this a balanced race under the assumption that it takes a 50% xp penalty?
