Here is the rundown of what we had before in Calidor that we have a chance to iron out in Calis:
1. A cavalier or samurai gets a free mount. Others need to buy a mount.
2. A wizard cannot start with a free masterwork item via arcane bond (mounts in general are way more expensive than masterwork items). I understand someone can "lose" his item, "kill" his character and then another player "gains" the masterwork item. Just rule it out that the item is lost and cannot be retrieved by anybody else. Another possible case similar to this is the blackblade magus.
3. We banned the "Chosen one" (free masterwork longsword) trait but not "Rich parents" (900gp)
IMHO, I hope we continue to allow #1 and allow #2 then for #3, tie it up with Calis like "Chosen One" is maximum one for each good-aligned temple (so first come, first serve and ties your character up with that temple - it's members and enemies - whether you chose to embrace your destiny or no.) while rich parents tie you up with the noble houses. If this is a no go, ban both (counter proposal: give classes full starting gold instead of average. Everyone start with no equipment, they buy equipment (knowledge skills, bluff, perception, sense motive, diplomacy and appraise becomes useful) or craft what they need (provided you have the relevant craft skill.))

I think you will find the new Calis to be much easier and quicker in the early levels we have a few ideas on how item shops will work hopefully with my free weekend I can get some of the other GM's on to discuss all this and more. IMO they will all be allowed. Masterwork items will not be hard to come by, and it would suck to take away mounts and companions from those classes.

Unfortunately Mounts aren't very useful in a bustling metropolis... good for wars though

well... riding dogs or ponies maybe, but a full sized horse would be trampling citizens, which is usually a bad thing!

I think charging might be difficult and a person on foot is going to be able to slip into places the horse cannot follow but on the main streets of a city horses will work.

You can't trample unless you have the trample feat

I'm going to make another character specifically designed for Calis. I am planning on making a dhampir Cruoromancer.
