After a trip to the pirate cove once again, defeating a wererat threat that was closeby, Melda asked her now apprentice Leona to follow her into the 'city' if one could call it such. She spoke little of her purpose, giving Leona only a "You'll see" as they wandered around the markets. Soon, Melda approached a mundane shop for aspiring wizards and bought spellbook worth 15 gold points, it's pages blank. She then nodded to the salesman and made her way around the cove, accompanied by Leona.
"Do you know what this is, Bautwael?" Asked Melda, presenting the empty Spellbook to Leona, with a stern expression on her face, her eyes staring deep inside the apprentice mage.

Leona followed her new teacher into the city and then into little shop with lots books and jars of things, some of which were still moving. while Melda is up at the counter Leona looks at some of the jars wondering if the contests tasted good.
Leona turns to Melda when presented with the book , takes it in her hands and flips through its pages then gives the sorceress a perplexed look.
"an empty book?"

Melda waved her right hand at Leona in disagreement, shaking her head left and right. Negative response is negative. She then pointed at the book and said.
"No, Bautwael. This...Is where power starts from. True force in it's premature state. Like the book, your mind needs to be completely empty when you first start to learn magic. Nothing must distract you during casting a spell, lest you burn yourself instead of your enemy. It is through this book that you will learn how to cast spells that demand your attention the most, yet keep others of note closeby, as perhaps you may one day need them."
With those words, Melda plucked out one of her many pens from her inventory, made sure Leona noticed it with a gesture of her hand, then began writing down lots and lots of easy-to-cast spells, how to perform them, what they require as a focus or hand-gestures, and all other mundane information about them.
"Light. Detect Magic. Read Magic. Spells that all self-respecting mages always have prepared in case of emergency. Start reading from these. Understand them. Study them carefully and try to practice them. Practice makes perfect. Even if you fail, it means little. The experience granted from your tries will only serve a good cause for your future."
Melda nodded and then brought out of her backpack a spell component pouch, taken by a man long dead, a man who used to rule a now dead kingdom, Valencia.
"This contains most of the mundane things you may, or may not, need. Keep it safe, and handy. It's more valuable than it looks."

Leona takes the the pouch, it still had a bit of blood on it from its previous owner which Leona actually did not mind it made the bag feel less sissy. looking inside she sad many vials of random things. Leona looks at the spells Melda had written in her book and gave a little groan.
"mmm how long until we just to the good stuff like, lighting bolts and shit? "

"Patience is a Virtue, Bautwael. You need to have some if you wish to succeed in magic." Said Melda as she finished writing down a spell and placed her pen back to her backpack. She then stood besides Leona and pointed at the written down words with her right index, quietly reading what she wrote to make sure she did so correctly.
"You master the easy spells first, then the harder ones will come on their own." Melda then deepened her voice, trying to sound as serious, and maybe dreadful, as she could. "Remember; Magic is a tool. Do not let it overcome you, lest you allow it to control you, rather than you control it. Each spell you cast must have a purpose behind it, and a reason. This is no toy, but a weapon. Wield it wrong and it will stab you. Abuse it, and you will be hated. Overuse it, and you will be feared. Underestimate it, and you will be dead. But worst of all, use it without care, and it will ruin you even in the afterlife."
"You are welcome, by the way." Added Melda after a short pause.

Leona stood there growing increasing more bored with every word but tried to make it at least seem like she was listening with the occasional nod to avoid scolding. At the end Leona either did not hear melda's final comment or maybe she just ignored it, either way she didn't show any signs of acknowledging it.
"OK yeah, great power great responsibly and all that.OK let me try one of these beginner spells"
Leona runs her finger down the list of spells in the book , stopping at 'mage hand' she reads the instructions in her mind and turned her gaze to a empty bottle on the counter. Leona reads the words as best she can as well as the hand motions but the bottle shows no signs of moving.
Leona groans a little.

Melda chuckled as she observed Leona, who was unable to do the spell she wished for, memories of all those who have tried to be hasty with magic and failed, flooded her mind. She then let out a sigh of satisfaction, as she has not laughed like that for quite a while. She then turned her attention towards Leona once more.
"You will get nowhere without patience. Study, Bautwael. Spend time with the book. Visualize everything in your head a few times. If you rush it, you may pull the bottle towards you, and break it on your head by mistake. No great wizard was able to rise in a few hours."
Melda then payed closer attention to the bottle, frowning, as she realized it was not a good idea to wreck the things of the place. She placed her right hand on the taller woman's shoulder and said. "It is time for us to leave. You can practice away from places that might charge us more, should you actually manage to break something."
With those words, Melda nodded, retracted her hand and began walking away, motioning for Leona to follow. "Come, Bautwael. Don't worry, I will find something you can practice on."

Melda kept on walking. She looked around her, carefully eyeing the people that walked by too close, keeping them at arm's length. Once the two women had walked out of sight, Melda looked around her and judged the area around them. She crossed her arms and nodded as she took in the details of this isolated place, before turning around and motioning for Leona to sit down.
"Sit down." Said Melda, as she sat down on the ground, folding her legs and waiting for Leona to do the same. "We are going to study until Kaelmourn gives us the signal to leave."

Leona sits down with her legs crossed just as melda had and places her spell book at her side and then slouches forward propping her head up on her arm.
"ok, sooo what do we do?"

Melda smiled and took Leona's new spellbook, opened it and placed it in front of Leona. "Now...You study. You study all the things I have written in here and you tell me if you have any questions. Try practicing them. If you fail, read them once more and try again."
Melda then retracted her hands from the spellbook and waited for Leona to begin. "Whenever you are ready."

leona motivated to improve from her earlier failure lifts her arms in front of her body placing her right fist into her left palm.
"OK, lets get going" Leona said with new determination in her eyes.
Leona studied her spell book with Melda for the next few hours asking her for help with whatever hand motions or pronunciations that gave her trouble. until Kaelmourne sent for them.
