The following is merely updating the character creation guidelines to be congruent and up to date with current rulings. It is in no way intended to present new material for submission, and is merely presented through Proposal Discussion and Proposal Submission in order to follow the appropriate process. Edits to the current are provided in italics for ease of seeing the amended portions.
This guide is in place to help new players create characters to play.
Step 1: Sign up/Log in to Myth Weavers
www.myth-weavers.com/forumhome.php
It is where you will be filling out your character sheet. Make sure you select Pathfinder when you start your character sheet.
Step 2: Choose your Ability Scores
You will be using a 25-point buy system
paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/gettingStarted.html#ability-scores
Players who are unfamiliar with the point buy system are encouraged to utilize a point buy calculator to verify that their stats are legal.

If your race has a variable ability mod (such as Humans, Half-Elves, and Half-Orcs), you will need to note somewhere on your sheet where your racial ability mod has been placed.
Step 3: Pick your race
You may select a race from any pathfinder book (with a few exceptions), use currently approved custom races from the General Forum, or create your own race
Note that if your race has alternate racial traits and you choose to utilize them, they should be indicated somewhere on your sheet, both for ease of GM approval and for verifying the alternate trait should any questions come up later.
Step 3a: Creating your own race
Follow this guide
paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/advancedRaceGuide/raceBuilder.html
You are allotted 10RP points to build the race
Ensure you do not take advanced or monstrous traits or you may take xp penalty
Once completed you must post a detailed summation of the new race in General Forum to be reviewed and accepted prior to the new race being usable for characters. Approved Races are eligible for use by all players.
Step 4: Pick Your Class
Any class from a pathfinder source is accepted.
Ensure you also check out any archetypes before selecting your class to see if it may suit your character
Racial Archetypes are limited to the direct race- not subtype. (i.e. Half-elves cannot use Elf Racial Archtypes, they must use ones specific to Half Elves)
Step 5: Choose skills and select feats
Your class will dictate how many skills you may choose, Class skills also gain a +3 on first rank (if you build your sheet in Myth Weavers, it will automatically update this, so long as you indicated the skill as a class skill beforehand). As usual, Skill Ranks may not exceed your current Character Level. All characters begin with one feat. Human race gets an extra feat at level one. Additional or bonus feats are determined by your class.
Step 6: Purchase equipment
Your class will dictate what your average starting gold will be, use that to buy your starting equipment. Be sure to record the weight and location of equipment on your sheet.
paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/equipment.html
Note: No player may start play with masterwork items of any sort at creation, including weapons, armor, tools, etc. This includes masterwork items gained from feats/abilities/traits.
Players with animals or controlled npc beings of any sort should note the information of their pets on their sheet; in the case of Class-based Animal Companions, Familiars, Mounts, or Eidolans, players are encouraged to make a separate myth-weavers sheet for their companion and link to it from somewhere on their main character sheet. Players cannot begin play with exotic pets or mounts and must obtain them in-game, unless said creature is explicitly included in their class ability listing (Such as a Druid's animal companion or a Cavalier's mount)
Step 7: Finishing details
Fill in your Hit points, take maximum for each level, fill in your armor class, saving throws, initiative modifier, and attack values. Also choose your characters alignment, make sure to check to see if your characters class restricts certain alignments.
You can also choose two beneficial traits to add to your character, or three if you also choose a drawback. Note that you are still limited to one trait per category. Also remember that almost all bonuses are listed as "Trait Bonus", and will not stack with each other.

Also do not forget your Favored Class bonus (by default either +1 skill point or +1 HP, although racial alternates may exist) at creation. You do not need to choose the same bonus each level, but your choice should be indicated somewhere on your sheet.
Step 8: Approval
Characters are reviewed by GMs and approved at the time of your placement and first moves. Upon approval, your character journal- located in the Handouts tab- will be updated on Roll20 with a link to your character sheet and your token.
Step 9: Choose a nation/faction or decide to go nomadic
If you choose a nation or faction declare your intent to join them in their recruitment thread and wait till you are added to their forum. Show up on their scheduled game time and your character sheet will be reviewed at that time. New players joining a faction are encouraged to party with their faction, but are not required to, and may be placed and take their moves independently [see below]. Once your characters location is established in game or in forum that is where you will be. Changes in location cost MP (movement points) and are restricted per week. Take your time choosing.
If you choose to be nomadic you can decide to either start at a faction city, near a factions party, or anywhere else in the world. You can either ask to play with them prior to the time they start, in which they may decline, or you can show up on open day (friday) and play. Please note friday is first come first serve.
Step 10: Final Note on Arbitration
The GM will have final call over approval or denial of your character. Although they will almost always work with you to ensure that your character is able to be played the way you want, they are the final arbiters on what is and isn't allowed, and have the discretion to not approve your character if they feel it does not adhere to the rules or is inappropriate to the game. Remember that this isn't a personal slight: they have to keep the holistic well-being and enjoyment of the entire community in mind when they allow or deny something, particularly anything that could be considered in a "grey area." They will try to work with you, but remember that you should also try to work with them as well.
At any time you have difficulties please log onto roll20 and enter game. There is almost always helpful players ready to assist you in creating your character and answering any questions. Thank you for choosing Realm of Calidor.
