Could you just make your own race into an awakened animal?

why make a whole nother race? the rules are here it is clear as day and it is all Pazio legal on the PRD I am just proposing that it be allowed to be done and providing the structure for it to be done fairly and consistently so we don't have a bunch of awakened CR10 brachiosaurus running around speaking 10 different languages because they were awakened by a lv 20 druid.

why make a whole nother race? Actually, arguably part of the issue is that you *couldn't* make another race for these- at least any that would get approved. Going through and just grabbing a random CR2 animal (I'll pull Crocodile as an example), building an equivalent race would be at over 24RP, and that's even before figuring out the special abilities, none of the 3 of which have costs; Not to mention that the spell adds 2 HD, and even going by Monster HD rules, that's 30hp. At level 1; well actually since racial hit die count against effective character level, it'd technically start at level 3. And the croc's not even the most grievous example- I can only fear someone making a Axe Beak or Boar PC. On top of that, the spell is also based on rolling for stats, which just complicates as now we have rolled stats and point buy in the same character creation. Unless your adding more houserules, which seems to make the thing even more complex. And to a point, even paizo doesn't really advise it be used for PCs, and even suggests alternatives in the Savage Species book about awakened PCs: "Savage Species p.23 DM's may allow awakened animal or plant characters, but players are advised to consider using anthropomorphic animals in Appendix 3 of this book instead."
Lest we forget also, that it doesn't encourage much in the realm of player agency. Your stats are predetermined for you. Your Feats are predetermined. Most of your skills are predetermined. And in a great many cases, you can also wave away any ideas of weapons due to lack of proper appendages

ok so lets say we replace CR1 and CR2 with a list of specific animals such as Monkey, Falcon, Giant frog and Hyena or other animals who are less prone to becoming OP. My main reason for even bringing awakened animals up is I want to make one as a back up in case Chicksaloon dies.
