The Heraldry of Nise
Background History: There was a once mighty tribe of Vikings called Nisengard. They were a very hunter and gatherer bases tribe who paid homage to the Goddess Nise. They provided for themselves and they hunted game and monsters in the area. However with no real conflict of other tribes near by the tribe continued to breed and began to grow which caused them to use resources available to them faster and not have a way of replenishing those resources as they had no where else to get them.
After years of this, Nise grew angry with the fact the tribe had grown stagnant and grew to a point of not being able to sustain themselves any longer off of their current situation. So Nise appeared to 4 of her priestesses spread throughout the tribe and demanded the blood of the tribe be paid for their failure. As the priestesses began to fulfill the wishes of their Goddess the tribes split into 4 different tribes each following a different priestess and each trying to destroy their former brothers. One tribe went to the mountains, One to the Forests, One to the plains and One stayed near their original home of Nisengard near the river.
The 4 tribes warred for 20 years. Their only refuge being the holy ground of Nisengard where the Mead Hall and the Statue of Nise was built in honor of the Goddess. To enter the area and pay homage to their goddess a sacrifice of blood must be paid. Even with the main tribe disbanded the area remained fertile and well kept as each of the tribes would return yearly to offer sacrifices to Nise and repair the shrine.
After 20 long winters and year after year of fighting the tribes numbers have dwindled. Some of them even being on the brink of extinction. Finally Nise sent word to her last remaining true cleric and ordered a cease fire between the tribes and demanded they once again provide their forces as more and more countries began to pop up to the East and the South and monsters began to once again invade the lands. There were once again other quarries to venture after and cities to invade. The 20 years thinned the ranks of the weak and left only the strongest warriors remaining and now it was time to come back together as one tribe and spread Nise's word to the rest of the lands through iron and blood.

Core Belief:
The core belief behind this viking country is that they pay the "Iron Price" for their wares. They are not merchants and performers. They are viking raiders who take their loot from their conquered enemies. Whether that be the monsters they encounter in the wild or nearby villages. They raid and pillage and take what they can get and if it looks like they will be beat they will take what they can carry and retreat to come back another day and finish what was started.
The tribes all worship the Goddess Nise who has War as one of her favored domains. While they are comprised of a wide variety of classes the one thing that is true for all of them is they are warriors.
