Yes. But I am not 100% sure if the elephant is that size always orbif he is smaller till lvl 7 like some outer mounts/companions.

Yes. But I am not 100% sure if the elephant is that size always orbif he is smaller till lvl 7 like some outer mounts/companions. Presuming they have to be captured as was indicated earlier, there isn't a variance based on level: all elephants you encounter in the wild are going to be the same whether you're level 1, level 4, level 7, or level 20 (which is silly, since mount and companion rules very explicitly say to use the Animal Companion list, but if we're going by capture rules, then we throw those out in favor of the bestiary entries.) So a captured elephant would always be huge size [ www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/animals/elephant/elephant] As for Large mounts at level 1, the unfortunate truth is there really isn't any options. There's no official published detail on accepted lists for Large Cavaliers and such simply because none of the paizo published races are Large; they just didn't come up with rulings for something that their materials doesn't have. With no official material, it has to then default to "ask your DM", which in this instance takes us right back to the houserules of needing to capture them. I hate that it looks like that is the answer, but it seems that it is. It's just one of those disadvantages and tradeoffs to being the only uniquely Large size PC race, as far as I can tell.

Yeh. By RAW, you dont "capture", you just get. And by the same RAW Large PC's dont get any mounts. So Probably not a good idea to be large. Alternatively, isnt there a mammoth rider PrC?
