Kaelmourn's mind was a dark and cold place, his dreams especially so. As he slumbered through the night his mind became the opposite of his being, whereas he was cool, calm, always seeming to be in control, his mind was a chaotic place that sent him constant visions of a potential future. It was a twisting and spiraling world filled with chaos, fire and death. Everything was a blurred image, slides going too fast, pictures passing by at just enough speed for the image to be seen but not fully grasped. In the center of it all he stood there, eyes trying to take in all of what was going on around him. He felt like a soul lost in a sea of fire, desperately trying to stay unscathed by the flames.
Just when his mind seemed to become to overwhelmed by the chaos of what he saw, silence dawned upon him and the Ranger found himself standing atop of a hill. It was night-time and the moon was full in a cloudless sky, lighting up the area for miles and miles in the perfect lighting condition for the Drow. From overhead a deafening roar came and Kaelmourn ducked down just in time to see a large red dragon pass overhead, descending down onto the lands below. The Drow watched for a few moments, making sure it was safe before he got back up to his feet and began descending from the hill, his eyes set on a settlement down below, a city by the looks of it. It seemed familiar and yet it was nothing he had ever seen before, his eyes taking in the sight of a massive castle that had a winding tower that practically extended to the clouds.
A strange land...

Kaelmourn wandered closer and frowned underneath his hood, entering into the city's gates he found the entire place to be seemingly abandoned. There was not a soul in sight but yet the streets were still in well-enough condition to suggest there were still inhabitants. His mind raced through his memories, the entire location seeming so familiar and yet he knew he had never seen this place before. A particular building in a street corner caught his eye and he snuck over to it quietly to examine it. It was a closed off building, planks covering its windows and doors, but at the foot of the door was a broken sign that held its name. Kaelmourn leaned down and wiped off a thick layer of dust and....ash..from its surface.
The Black-Grog Tavern...
The Ranger froze in his tracks as he realized that this was Blackwater Cove, but yet it was so different. What had happened? Where was he really? His ears twitched as he caught the soft sounds of chanting nearby, the town center if he was estimating the distance correctly. Upon moving towards the source of the noise his eyes widened at what he found. Gathered about a large stone-statue depicting a fearsome dragon, thousands of citizens were tightly packed together, on their knees and chanting soft prayers of protection towards the statue, the only ones standing being a group of armed and armored guards that surrounded the many citizens, each one standing at least 10ft. tall, covered with thick scales.
Dragonkin? He thought quietly to himself. He moved back to leave from the circle but a particularly nasty-looking guard spotted him, growling and unfurling its wings as it took flight and cut the Drow off before he could escape. "Going somewhere, welp?" It spat in a horribly accented and butchered version of common. Kaelmourn's hands went to his weapons and his hand crossbow let off a shot that pierced through the dark breastplate that the dragonkin wore, getting through the scales underneath just barely but not seeming to affect the dragonkin much outside of mild pain. It gave him the distraction he needed though and he took off while the beast was still staggering back from the impact.

Kaelmourn ducked in and out of alleyways, running as fast as he could. All around him he could hear the reptilian tongue of the guards and their heavy flapping wings as he was pursued at every corner. The Ranger moved into a rather narrow alleyway, the large dragonkin wouldn't be able to follow him through due to their size, but he could soon hear softer pittering of clawed feet from behind him and the all-too familiar screech of excited Kobolds. Kaelmourn took advantage of his impressive agility and jumped to the right, clinging onto a window-sill and kicking off of it to grab a storm-drain. He climbed up its length and got up onto the rooftops, leaving the small kobolds behind in the alleyway who fired slings at him.
From all around in the skies Kaelmourn could see the much larger dragonkin flying through the skies above the city, like a storm of armor and scales ready to tear him apart at any moment. As if to compliment such a sight the sky itself had now darkened with storm clouds, a blood-red light emanating through it eerily. The Pirate Lord didn't want to stay to find out what was happening and ran across the rooftops, taking jumps between buildings. Occasionally a guard would swoop past him and try to carry him off but he managed to evade each and every one of them, one even crashing through the roof of a smithy just behind the Drow.
Kaelmourn continued running, his eyes spotting a large gap between the building he was on and the next, he hoped his running start would be enough to get him across. The pounding of his feet against the tiled roof was loud and the only thing that seemed louder was his racing heartbeat and panting breath. He reached the edge, averting his eyes from looking down lest it bring him to that level. His jump was true, soaring through the air practically like an eagle, he would make it across...
*THWAM*
Something slammed into him hard and his course was thrown wildly off course, now instead plummeting towards the stone road quickly with something heavy on top of him now. He smashed into the ground painfully, feeling ribs break and air escaping from his lungs. His vision blurred and adjusted, giving him just enough time to see the scaled fist of the guard that tackled him smash into his face before everything went dark.

Kaelmourn's eyes slowly flitted open, looking at his surroundings and realizing he was by the campfire of his group. A fire crackled softly and all were asleep save for Oirendial keeping watch. He gave a soft groan that was too quiet for others to hear and laid his head back down. His mind was clouded and blurry, he had been dreaming...But what was it that he dreamed of? He strained to bring back the memories but they were already long gone. It seemed like something important, something he should remember but they always seemed to stay out of reach for him. He sighed and closed his eyes, it couldn't be anywhere near his time for the next shift, but he knew that Drugo's sudden death was giving him trouble with sleep.
He laid there, tossing about a few times before opening his eyes again to spot the moon. It was relatively low in the sky and was blood-red, an interesting color to say the least. He didn't quite know what it meant but as he watched it closer and closer a wave of exhaustion gradually fell over him and before he knew it he was asleep once more.

Kaelmourn's dreams would continue to be plagued by visions of this same world, finding himself in different parts of Calidor in a strange world ruled by stranger beings. His memories of such would always fade away once he awoke but his body unconsciously adapted to the combat situations he would encounter in his dreams. Sometimes the dreams were light enough that he would achieve a full night's rest, while other times had gotten to the point that he would awake violently in a cold sweat. No matter how painful or sudden the wake-up, Kaelmourn's memories of his dreams would always remain just out of his reach.
(To be Continued with future Dreams)
