After traveling for days with his new friends in Volkenheim, Effigy found himself wanting some time alone. As the party marched ahead and Effigy held back. Once he was in the rear he simply wandered off the trail. He hoped the party would not be upset, They will understand, he thought.
It had been a month since he left the confines of the underdark. He almost missed it. It was quiet down there at least. He could almost still smell the squalor. He imagined he could still hear the grunting of the tribe boars.
Then he realized he could actually hear the grunting of a boar as it charged down the trial towards him.
Quickly Effigy swayed to the side just narrowly dodging the sharp tusks. Quickly Effigy swung down his greathammer slamming it into the Boars spine. '
It crashed into the dirt behind Effigy.
It did not stall in the dust quickly as it scrambled back to its feet squealing and reared its head back towards Effigy.
"Go away young creature. You do not wish to die this day and I wish not to kill you." Effigy spoke to the boar knowing it would not understand. At least it gave him some absolution.
The boar charged again in its rage, Effigy again tried to step to the side however it was not quick enough. He let out a roar as the tusk entered his thigh.
The rage came. Effigy felt strength surge through his veins like a drug. It felt good.
Effigy now gripped his hammer and slammed it into the boars head. He could hear the skull crack as the boar collapsed into the ground.
Effigy was glad he would not go hungry.
