Also if we just made a character 1 level lower why wouldn't we all make barbarians till level 10 then die and make casters? Also who is the highest level? Good question. But the answer is simple. History written. In these 10 levels you have formed alliances, made friends and enemies, All you keep after death is, partially, your level. Since we have astrong political system here, i don't believe that losing all the roleplaying parts you have accomplished so far is a small thing.

Sig: you mentioned that it would not be heroic to be constantly fleeing. How is it heroic to have nothing, or very little at stake? My character will be at stake. What i would not like to be at stake is the progress i did so far. The whole "new characters rise to take the place of old one" is not really true. In Pathfinder old characters stay up there and gain immortality, while lower level characters are always the "usable resource". Having played in a high level campaign before, that's what i saw. Civilians (or PCs of lower levels) being the "trade goods" or stronger characters. Apart from that, imagine yourself enjoying playing with another player, having formed alliances, have future plans to accomplish, craft nations, etc. All these at levels 10+. Then a single wizard npc manages to land a phantasmal killer on you. Farewell good buddy, my level 1 character is pretty useless in combats you fight, so he can't follow you. Also, then, what happens if a high level character takes a low level character with him? Can he power level him? Who's talking about Pathfinder? We are talking about this setting. If you want to stay up there and gain immortality than I suggest you play smart. Lest we have a world ran by few high level players that decide what new players will live and die. This is a simple concept and everyone else seems to get it. Also fixing such a problem by pushing new players is just ridiculous and I shouldn't have to explain why. It trivializes the whole system and any progress that players make. By the way, no this is not up for discussion.

I think by limited he means that you're limited to what other players can do for you. You can't just go to a church in your city and have an NPC do it for you. More along these lines, not capped as in you can only resurrect a set amount of times. There will just be 'limits' to how resurrection is handled.

My very first roleplay experience was on an AvP Forum Roleplay site where character death was a very large reality. It created a lot of legends and memories, as well as trauma for those who managed to be the sole survivor of a squad that went into a Xenomorph-infested outpost.

Permadeath is still very much a real thing, there is no one currently that can res a fallen char. There must still be a body, (burn your enemies). Plus, I can already see the lengths nations will go to kill the one member of enemy nations who has the power to resurrect.

Come faster phantasmal killer. Should have taken illusionism.
I am also going to commission a black bodysuit for my wizard.

Heck, as we get higher leveled, I will establish a resurrection fund, used to make scrolls of wish, and bring back people with those.

One of the draws that made me choose this campaign over any other was the idea of mass politics and mass battles. I wanted to play roleplay because i want to be my character. When my character dies, i will be angry, sad and hen i will get over it and make a new one at level 1. I want this permadeath. I want to feel scared when i start rolling 1's. I want to be scared when some uberwizard NPC appears before me. I want to be afraid of the brutal 10+ level warrior. I want to have to group with 10 people to be able to kill 1 player. Let me fear for my life. Let me be my character

so lets outline the ways of coming back from the dead in normal pathfinder rules.
Raise Dead: Lv5 spell, requires the whole body. Must be done within a strict time limit(day per caster lv.) 2 permanent negative levels. cant fix undeath. costs 5k gold(6-10 if you are getting rid of those negative lvs.)
Resurrection: lv7 spell. you need a part of the body. they take 1 negative level. still does nothing for undeath. costs 10-11k
True Resurrection.lv 9 now this will bring back anyone except those that die of old age. no negative levels, and need for a body. but a price tag of 25k
Wish: lv 9 spell. It requires two uses and costs 50k
Reincarnate: lv 5 spell. It has the low cost of 1k gold(3-6 if you are fixing negative levels.)It is the only spell that can bring back someone who died of old age. major downside is your race(gender/general appearance. depends on the DM) are going to be randomly rerolled, and you become a young adult again. This can destroy your ablity to do your job. A wish or miracle spell can fix that (25k)(total cost 31k)
There are all the " normal" ways of not being dead. Lets remember that if your buddies didn't save your gear you are out that as well.

Or the simple though marvelous spell that you forgot to mention, clone. Cheap as hell, available to arcane spellcasters and by spending a damn long time (or creating a simulacrum to do the job) you gain +1 lives at your super mario counter. Also, 2 hero points.
