(Starday, 8th of Arodus 71 A.C. After midnight)
After leaving the guardhouse Constantine and Mak reached the secret room where he brought Effigy earlier in the day. He entered the room and started preparing for the next day.
"Do you remember Kirp?" He sent the mental question towards the familiar.
"You mean that crazy cleric? The one with the even more crazy dwarf friend? Please tell me they aren't heading here." The owl cooed with disapproval and flapped his wings.
"C'mon don't be like that. They apologized for trying to eat you. They didn't knew you were a familiar." he started smiling as memories came back to him.
Just over a year passed since he met them and that happened in no small measure thanks to Mak. They were wandering aimlessly through the lands looking for knowledge, old ruins, legends and sometimes meeting with wizards and learning new tricks. It was during this time that they met Kirp and Grom Stoutaxe. He just finished setting the camp for the night and was looking through his spellbook that he received a distress message from Mak who was out hunting rodents. He quickly got to his feet, grabbed his staff and started to run towards the source of the message. After a few hundred feet of running he ended up into a meadow and the show before his eyes made him burst into laughter. Two individuals, one human and one dwarf were trying to put Mak into a bag. But the owl was struggling so much that they were full of scrapes and bleeding profusely. When they heard Constantine laughing they stopped and started staring at him. The dwarf let go of the owl and came forward demanding to know what was so funny. He tried to threaten the wizard but the state he was in didn't helped his case at all. After Mak's owner settled down and explained what was happening they became more reasonable.
They introduced themselves. The human was Kirp Moab, cleric of Cayden Cailean the "Drunken Hero" and with his dwarven friend Grom Stoutaxe, a fighter, they traveled the world looking for ale and adventure. When he asked them why they were trying to put Mak in a bag they answered that they got lost in the forest and their rations ran out so they tried to catch the owl, as it was the first living thing they saw, and cook it. The wizard smiled at this and invited them to his camp where he had plenty of rations. And so began one of the most interesting year of his life. Between the three of them they drank so much ale that he could fill a whole river form spring to the sea. They had more crazy adventures and close shaves with death than he can remember. Mak never forgave them for what they tried to do to him in the forest not even after they apologized. He parted ways with them when he met Gunnbjorn, the now missing Warden, and he made him an offer that he couldn't turn down. He pleaded with them to join him but they refused saying their kind was not made to sit in one place. Now he needed their help as they were the only ones crazy enough to do this and make it back alive.
He finished preparing the things he was going to need later in the day then he jumped in the bed and fell asleep with Mak doing the same on his perch.
