I come to you great people, of great minds, and of good judgement to listen and ponder upon my humble words.
There has come a time within Calidor, a time of strife, a time of grief, a time of War. There is but no way to defend such lands from those who just wish to take it. Be it for control or for the satisfaction of a melted sweet treat.
I propose that there be a way for these Faction Lands to be able to buy, train, and upkeep a modest militia or defense force for the sole purpose of defense.
Purchase of these Militia would be limited as good soldiers and trained men are hard to come by, and harder to keep.
During the Faction Movement where all purchases are to be declared I propose under a separate action be Recruitment. This action would allow you to either Purchase a new or train an existing member of your Militia force.
For Hexes of:
1-10 0
11-25 1
26-50 2
51-100 3
101-200 4
201+ 5
Purchase of a new Militia, All Militia start at level 1 and will only progress through training (but can earn combat badges)
These can be represented by either a 'Standard' sheet or a 'slightly variant' sheet. These would be placed linked to the City Capitol Name Journal
Melee fighter type 100
Ranged fighter type 150
Divine type 200
Arcane type 250
Cost to Train:
Training may only be done in the Capitol of the Faction in which the Militia are to serve.
Militia may be moved along a road to other fortifications but must be able to get there, or a Village (or better), in 1 days regular (30 foot) movement.
Must be trained by a character of that class type and be 4 levels higher. (Minimum level 5)
Character must spend 7 days training per previous level (1mp per day for a week) to train (You could still hunt as long as you did not move from the hex, and no the recruits don't hunt with you)
Additionally you may teach an additional 'student' 1 /5 additional levels above the needed level to train.
*A level 20 Melee type could teach 4 level 1's to level 2 since his minimum to teach is level 5 and is 15 levels above that (15/5=3)
*A level 20 Melee type could teach 3 level 2's to level 3 since his minimum to teach is level 6 and has 14 levels above that (14/5=2.8 round down)
level 1's to level 2 would be 7 days and a level 4 of that class type
level 2's to level 3 would be 14 days and a level 5 of that class type
Cost to train is 5x purchase Price multiplied by function of levels:
Melee Ranged Divine Arcane
Level 2 is 500 x (2+1) =1500 600x(3)=1800 800x(3)=2400 1000x(3)=3000
Level 3 is 500 x (3+2+1)=3000 600x(6)=3600 800x(6)=4800 1000x(6)=6000
Level 4 is 500 x (4+6) =5000 600x(10)=6000 800x(19)=8000 1000x(10)=10000
Upkeep:
Upkeep of Militia calculated as such: 10% of the initial cost with the same progression of upkeep as training for higher levels.
UPkeep of Melee would be 10, 10x3, 10x6, 10x10
UPkeep of Ranged would be 15, 15x3, 15x6, 15x10
UPkeep of Divine would be 20, 20x3, 20x6, 20x10
UPkeep of Arcane would be 25, 25x3, 25x6, 25x10
These increasingly higher costs and the need of a 4 levels higher level character to stay and train them should keep the larger level armies small until way later in the game.
