In my own personal opinion the current system to flee combat is not effective. Again this is my opinion. The current form of fleeing combat is not backed up by any pathfinder rules to my knowledge and I feel it allows creatures and players a unrealistic advantage to making some very bad decisions. Death in Calidor is supposed to be a very real thing. This is currently be undermined by being able to be pinned by 8 owlbears with 1 hp left and rolling a ...say dc14 on a d100 to escape. This is not realistic. Just to be clear, I want to make it more difficult to flee a combat. Current Flee rules The DC is the number of rounds spend in combat multiplied by 2 Aka ten rounds in combat = a dc of 20 on a d100 I think we should change the DC by adding in multiple factors Base DC of 50 Decrease the dc by 5 for every 10' away from creature Increase the dc for every status inflicted upon character If within threatened space make it not possible to flee To clarify the vote is not to vote in my suggested change, it is just to get a feeler if people are dissatisfied with the current flee system. The thing here is that martial classes get underpowered by Calidorian custom rules even more as time passes. They already were underpowered, and you keep decreasing their value even more with these rules. If you want reality, then yes, fighters should never actually be able to escape an encounter. But we are not playing a realistic game to begin with. If you want balance, leave it as it is. Since most spellcasters have a means of "blinking" (teleporting at least 400 feet) then with your ruling they will be nearly the only ones that will ever escape. I am not playing a martial class though i am heavily concerned of how much you keep nerfing them. This rule along with the fumble chart makes them even more useless than they were before. Well the fumble chart was just removed so with that gone and everyone being able to effectively break away from combat with no risk makes them way more broken now as there is no reason to to try encounters you shouldn't be trying. If you get lukcy you get a mass amount of xp. If you don't, no problem. Just hit a DC and you magically get out of combat. Yes some classes are better capable of getting out of combat but that doesn't mean you give everyone the same ability just because some people are able to.

But you dont make it harder for those who already have a hard life. I suggest being able to affect fleeing with physical modifiers. With rogues escaping easies because they got quick legs and warriors because thwy can run longer.

We really don't need more ways for PCs to die.

We really don't need more ways for PCs to die. I would disagree, I believe we need more ways for PCs to die in Calidor. For the sake of creativity of course.

Otherwise we are just gods roaming around and smiting all you stand in our way.

i agree with the black water pirates hunterkiller so many ways to expressivly quick die now if its by player stupidity i dont see a problem with it such as i drop weapon and challange the bear to a wrestling match. and decent challange when they are playing well it's about having the threat of death if your stupid not because the gm needs to increase their killcount.or vice versa needs to lower their kills by being ultra kind and handing xp everywhere.

So far I think people died to being unlucky or stupid. No dm have yet had animals suddenly become smart and rush a squishy in the back.

I do not wish to see my fellow fighter party member, who plays a martial class for RP reasons (there is no other reason to do so in Pathfinder-DnD), be squashed by an owlbear/dragon/elephant while i escape because i can move my fingers fast enough. The only reason to enact such a rule about escaping is for realism reasons. But, seriously, since when is anyone playing -Pathfinder- for it's realism?

I think while the DM's might be rooting for some blood sport they are not going to break the rules of logic or the game to get them. Yes when they attack with an animal they are going to use its strongest attack, yes they are going to attack targets that makes sense for the monsters. But its probably more fun for the DM to be rooting for the bear than the party of PC's who are going to leave its cubs motherless.

I have no intention of going out of my way to do so or breaking any rules in the process so much as I'd just prefer to see more of you getting shitty rolls that lead to your deaths simply because I find it funny. Regardless of what you choose to believe I will remain unbiased in my rulings, but if you do end up dying in game as a result of your own mistakes don't expect me to not silently laugh to myself at you as a result.

This is getting off topic but I can tell that is a terrible mentality for a DM to have. You're supposed to facilitate the PC's progression through your world or in this case Clout's world not rack up body count. What's happening is that you retained your player mentality of killing the opposition which makes for a terrible DM. For one this game isn't player vs DM for a reason because a DM has far more power than a PC, it's really not a contest of who wins the fight.

Pretty sadistic view, but as a guy who understands why GMs kill off characters I don't blame you for your choice man.

I have to admit, if given choice of GM who favor certain players (or factions) with GM who's out to kill us equally I choose the later
