Name: The Reformed Order of the Rosy Cross of Truth
Description
It was around two centuries ago when the church of St Cuthbert had formed the original Order of the Rosy Cross. It was initially created in order to overthrow a tyrannical king possessed by wicked devils. Once they were finished in their quest the order members continued on their mission to rid the world of corruption and unlawful scum. But over the years the group lost its popularity and as its members grew old and died, its membership began to dwindle until the order was no more. The world continued on with its course without the existence of such a group until only recently, when a young half-elven cleric of St. Cuthbert by the name of Friedrich Klauss was haunted by visions of a wrathful god (supposedly Cuthbert himself) reigning fiery judgement on a realm plunged into chaos. Frightened by these revelations the priest brought the news to his superiors who then proposed that the order be reinstated as soon as possible. After the founders of this New Order were established, a magically imbued tablet was placed upon an alter in the capital city of Therindale. The tablet's sole purpose is to interpret the will of St. Cuthbert, who is to chose the leader of the faction.
This faction will start out as a knightly order (although lands and holdings are not bad thing). It will be lawful neutral (with a moderate tendency towards lawful good) and anyone who isn't chaotic or evil and is motivated to preserve order will be allowed to join (even if your character worships a god other than St. Cuthbert). Like it was described above the leadership is determined by the will of St. Cuthbert (which is determined by a general consensus as to what St Cuthbert's will would be) and will have absolute power over his subjects so long as it doesn't conflict with church law. The Order will be separated into four branches. The first will be the Communicants, a group mostly populated by paladins (but fighters and battle-clerics will also be allowed) who will act as enforcers but will perform miscellaneous acts of charity for the locals in times of peace. There will be a fellowship of adventurers who will go on grand quests for us. A secretive branch concerned with the darker side of of things (this is where we will stick the few sneaks and skill monkeys who want to join) called The Thorns. Once again any non-chaotic/evil character who is willing to follow and enforce the law can join our ranks.
Tenets of the Order
Communicants
The Communicants exist to enforce the Order's cause for harmony and justice. When they aren't acting as warriors of peace they are out feeding the poor (whom in the eyes of the church are the most worthy of people because of their tendency to be humble) and evangelizing the philosophies of peace and order to neighboring nations.
The members of this branch will be exploring and interacting with the various instances that appear on the map as well as react to the major events in this changing world. If an instance needs to be quelled of evil it is possible that the Fellowship works with the Communicants. The Fellowship currently has no membership.
The Thorns
The Thorns are a secretive branch of people in Rosey Cross. They do not carry out assassinations (contrary to what some may have already brought up) and must still adhere to the code of conduct that binds the other members of the group. Being a member of this group is tough because it usually means choosing not to use class abilities in order to follow the rule (EX: Sneak attack is used in moderation). Otherwise members typically spy, sabotage and kidnap enemies just like a normal organisation of this nature.
The Bureaucrats
In charge of management and organizing the members of the. At the moment we're doing a lot of moving around but in the future we'll stand back and let the other groups do the the running around.
