I have seen the debates in the forums and I have come up with the following proposal, give me your thoughts and I let us see what we can do.
1. Magical Crafting remains mostly RAW, the only change is that due to an eight additional hours in the day, you can do 1250gp work/day (you still have to eat, prepare spells, and piss) with an appropriate skill check at the end of each day to confirm progress.
2. Mundane Crafting mirrors magical crafting, each day you can do 1250gp work with an appropriate skill check at the end of each day to confirm progress. You can craft any number of mundane items each day up to the gp limit, assistants/NPC under your supervision may add 1/2 your bonus to their craft checks and may do the same amount of work. Still limitied to 50lbs of materials per resource per week.
3. Experience compensation for crafting is based off of level and days spent crafting, not the DC for the items or the number of items, only the time put into crafting and what level you already are. Each day you devote to crafting you gain 1/21st the xp required to gain the next level, such that if you craft for three weeks straight you can level. (or 1/however many days you think it should take to level as I'm still a little bit new)
4. Finally an optional change that some may like, All those who craft within the Guild Halls must belong to the Calidor Crafting Guild that spans the entire continent. It would have a say in the prices and wages of the craftsmen that work therein. There would be dues that must be paid, but they would also provide access to assistants, possibly raw materials and would essentially be a neutral nation. It could also sister with a merchants guild offering an outlet to sell the crafted wears, or a pool where players can either commission specific items from any of the realm's craftsmen, or where they can purchase any of the crafted surplus. It could also potentially have a second sister, a banking guild that with the profits gained from the merchant and crafting guilds could offer loans to the Realm's many nations with interest rates set by the current guild government. In my mind the government would be a tribune with one guildmaster representing one of each of the branches and the guild would have a vote in Calidor just as any of the nations.
At this point, none of the numbers are set in stone, a balance will have to be stricken, if it makes more sense for magical crafting to be 1500gp per day and mundane crafting to only be 750gp per day then they can be changed.
