As I had planned from day 1, the time has come to start getting some assistance running this massive experience that has become Realm of Calidor. We have come a long way, but we still have a lot of work to do and for me to focus on that I need a community of trusted players to rely on. Why else would I take on the title of High Magistrate if there were never going to be other Magistrates?
I will be accepting applications for dedicated players to fill the role of Magistrates. These members will have authority to DM encounters and/or help to develop content in the game. There are, of course, some very important requirements for players wishing to take on this responsibility. They should be obvious, but I will share them anyway.
1. Integrity is the most important thing. I go to great lengths to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all players. If you cannot run these encounters without integrity for the Realm, you shouldn't apply for this position.
2. You must have a working knowledge of both Pathfinder and Realm of Calidor. Fudging is simply not allowed. This upsets the balance of the system. Improvisation is not allowed. If there is NOT a system for it, then you cannot improv something just to enhance a player experience. You can only omit a decision ask the senate to deal with the missing rules. Luckily we have a great community of experienced players who will not shy away from reciting the rules at you during an encounter. This is not something you should ignore but embrace. Together we all know all the rules, and this helps to make sure an encounter is run by the book(s). That said, you must also be capable of searching out rule clarifications regularly and standing by them when you know you are correct. We are rules lawyers here in Calidor and someone with the title of Magistrate is expected to lawyer.
3. Commitment to the game is important. We all have jobs and other responsibilities, but if you want to have this supporting position in the community then you should be able to dedicate some time to help to run the game.
4. Did I mention integrity?
5. DMing experience is probably important for taking on this large endeavor.
There are some bonuses to being a Magistrate. You are not required to stop playing your character, we only ask that you handle your duties as Magistrate with integrity and refrain from IC biases. Each Magistrate will be authorized to create a new Magistrate character that will be seated in the royal city of Calis. This is not a second character, as they cannot participate in anything but defensive land actions and rping, but more of an avatar that represents the Magistrate within the Realm. That's right, there is a High Magistrate Colin Clout in-game who resides in Calis.
Those interested in seeking a position or learning more can PM me.
