You may have heard of me, Tara Bull, the bureaucrat tiefling, locked in my tower pouring over logistics. You may not have heard of me at all.
I do not come before you covered in glory.
I come before you with a humble proposal, stemming from the desire to do what is best for the Realm.
As those familiar with the political geography of Calidor are aware, there is much division in our Realm. This is good, as diversity is the wellspring of innovation and prosperity.
What is not good is the prospect of one faction becoming dominant above all others, bringing the dream of a Calidor full of choice to a close.
Someone such as myself is most suited to the position of High Lord of Calidor. I hail from the humble nation of Calamity. Our land is a small one, founded and fed through hard work with an eye to fostering strength among our citizenry; not a great nation, but a proud piece of the Calidorian tapestry.
I owe fealty to none of the great nations. Each of these can trust me not to grant their neighbors the upper hand. Furthermore I have a plan that will increase the prosperity of all, with only minor losses to the coffers of Calis.
The realm is currently in a growing stage and such should be encouraged. I see this as the foremost duty of Calidor's monarch.
I do not intend to lead nor rule, but to guide and consult. The senate shall be my ally in this, and necessary laws will be expedited. Some of these are already under discussion.
I do bring some minor ideas of my own to the table.
In order to increase the amount of tamed land within the realm, all Nomads will be taxed. This will encourage them to find homes for themselves, to join and to better the societies from whence Calidor's glory springs.
The idea of taxes being imposed upon all the factions and nations of the Realm shall be dropped entirely. The rich lands surrounding Calis are sufficient to maintain it. The untamed resources of Calidor should be developed freely by all.
I am not, by any conventional measure, the most advantageous choice for any of the senators gathered here to elect a High King, nor for their countries. I am not one of your own. It is this very fact that renders me the correct choice.
Aside from the Paladins and their eternal complaining and bigotry, I believe I am the choice from whom each and every nation can expect the least interference.
In my appearance and the reactions to it, I have the most reason to remain a quiet ruler. In my nation's weakness I have the most motivation to be just.
I have put forward propositions aimed at the betterment of our realms and am eager to crafting more of the same in the future in collaboration with the senate and the other political entities in our land.
Thank you for lending me your ears and for your consideration.
